SMP NEGERI 22 MALANG
SMP Negeri 22 Malang is located in the eastern area of Malang City, bordering Malang Regency. Nestled in the hilly area of Villa Gunung Buring, Cemorokandang Subdistrict, Kedungkandang District, the school enjoys a cool and peaceful environment—far from city noise—which provides a highly supportive atmosphere for daily learning activities.
Founded on October 20, 1999, the school spans 5,597 m² with 36 rooms, 20 classes, and a total of 610 students. It is supported by 35 teaching staff (including 2 Master's graduates and 1 currently pursuing a Master's degree) and 9 non-teaching personnel. The school thrives through strong collaboration between students, staff, school committees, parents, the surrounding community, and relevant stakeholders.
Despite its location on the outskirts of Malang, SMP Negeri 22 Malang is deeply committed to becoming an eco-friendly school. It has built partnerships with institutions such as the Malang City Health Department, Sanitation and Parks Department, and Kedungkandang Public Health Center. The school committee actively supports environmental programs by seeking sponsorships and collaborating with higher education institutions.
One of the main programs being implemented is the Environmental Education Program, which includes the Adiwiyata and Green School Festival (GSF) initiatives. Launched in 2014, the program has brought multiple awards, such as:
- Top 7 Finalist of GSF 2014 (Radar Malang & City Education Office)
- 3rd Place Winner in GSF 2015 and 2017
- Most Creative School in 2015
- Adiwiyata City-Level Award (2014–2015)
- Provincial and National Adiwiyata Awards
The school is now aiming for the highest recognition: Adiwiyata Mandiri.
Besides academic and environmental excellence, SMP Negeri 22 Malang is also recognized for its volleyball achievements through its partnership with Club Bravo, earning numerous sports awards over the years.
Bravo, SMPN 22 Malang! May you continue to grow and become the school of choice for the community.
